# Websites for construction companies and general contractors

> Sites, content and SEO for builders and general contractors in Sardinia: building work told with dates, quote forms that qualify. studio jem's projects.

Builders sign contracts worth six figures and introduce themselves with a gallery of finished jobs — no dates, no timings, no price. Nothing on the page tells a serious firm apart from one that only promises.

A construction website does not close anything. Nobody signs off a house
from a contact form. What the site does is get you through the check —
the recommendation arrives, your name gets typed into Google, and what
comes up decides whether the phone rings. We have worked this sector with
one general contractor who builds dry-assembled steel houses, from a
printed brochure in 2021 to the site that is live now.

## Why these sites all look alike

Open three builders' websites and you get three galleries of finished
work. No date, no place, no delivery time. A client comparing three firms
sees the same thing three times and falls back on price, which is the
worst ground for anyone who works properly.

Then there is the vocabulary gap. A firm building with a newer method —
dry steel, light steel frame, NZEB — calls it by its technical name.
Whoever is looking for it does not know that name and types «prefab
houses», «wooden house», «what does it cost to build». Between what the
company writes and what the market searches there is a hole, and nothing
happens inside it.

And the fear that actually stops a sale is not the price. It is the site
that stalls. Almost nobody writes about timing, because writing about it
means committing in public to a date.

## What a building firm actually needs

A job documented while it happens, with the dates written down. One
address for each thing people search, instead of a «services» menu with
four generic entries. The technical material written for the designer, on
a page of its own, because the designer is the one who recommends you. A
form that asks first what kind of work it is, so enquiries arrive already
sorted. And something that answers in the evening, because the evening is
when people think about houses.

## What we built with Green Tech

**[Green Tech Costruzioni](/en/work/green-tech-costruzioni/)** is a
general contractor in Sardara, and it builds houses in dry-assembled
steel. The work started on paper — a four-panel brochure and a first
website, in 2021 — and grew into a full rebuild: four addresses built on
four search questions, Casa Sanluri documented from the first excavation
to the reveal, 165 square metres with the frame erected in twenty-one
days, the wall build-up drawn layer by layer for the people who design,
and an assistant that answers when the office is shut.

That is a [website](/en/services/websites/) and the
[SEO](/en/services/seo/) groundwork under it, and the result can be
checked from outside: on Google today, «case in acciaio sardegna» opens
with an AI Overview that cites Green Tech as its source and names it
among the island's reference companies.

If you build, and your site is a gallery with nothing in it that can be
checked, the way out is a real job told properly. Tell us about yours in the
[online quote](/en/quote/): no questions about your turnover, only about
what you build.

## FAQ

### Why bother with a website if our work comes by word of mouth?

Because word of mouth ends up on Google. Someone who gets your name from a friend looks you up before calling, and what they find decides whether they call. A page showing one real building site, with the dates on it, does the job your happy client cannot do alone.

### What goes in place of the usual gallery of finished jobs?

The site while it happens. For Green Tech Costruzioni we told Casa Sanluri phase by phase — excavation, slab, a frame erected in twenty-one days, insulation — with the photographs taken that day and five clips shot inside. Anyone can show a finished house. The dates are the hard part.

### How do you get found for a method the market cannot name?

You write the whole thing out, one page per question, each at its own address. Green Tech has four addresses that are four searches: steel frame houses, general contractor in Sardinia, dry construction, the Sanluri site. On «case in acciaio sardegna» Google's AI Overview cites them.

### Can we take quote requests online without drowning in tyre-kickers?

Yes, if the form qualifies instead of collecting. First question: what kind of project — new build, extension, added storey, renovation. Someone who cannot answer it is not a client yet, and someone who can has already told you half of what you need to know.

### Do architects and homeowners look for the same things?

No, and putting both on one page speaks to neither. The homeowner wants timings, costs and what the house feels like in winter. The designer wants the wall build-up, the certifications and the limits of the system. Two pages, written in two different languages.

### Is printed material still worth doing?

In construction yes, for a practical reason: the quote is handed over in person, and something has to stay on the kitchen table after you leave. Green Tech's brochure is four panels and says one thing per panel.
